WINE-GROWING TOWN

Pulkau

Pulkau is an ancient wine-growing town that can look back on centuries of tradition. As early as 1025, the canons of St. Pölten received tithes in the area around Pulkau. A document has been preserved from the period 1216-20, from which it emerges that Count Konrad von Hardegg donated two vineyards - Vinea in loco qui dicitur Haselporz - to the Pulkau parish. This is the first time we are talking about today's Ried Haselparz, the top location for our Zweigelt variety!
